In the environmental sector, we have built expertise in energy efficiency, water, waste management and carbon. For example, in the Middle East we have advised on and/or arranged finance for 16 desalination plants with a capacity of 6.5 million m3/day, and a total financing requirement of USD20 billion.
While growing our REEF expertise, we have strengthened and diversified our product capability. In Principal Finance, for example, we have a USD67 million investment in the Climate Change Capital Carbon Fund. We have also invested in a number of other environmental opportunities, including Environmental Facilities Management Corp (a Korean water treatment company), Sangle Solar Energy (a Chinese solar water heater company) and Meiya Power Company (the largest foreign owned independent power company in China).
